Adrienne, Jagger and Bowser

How did you choose your dogs’ names? My husband is a huge Rolling Stones fan, so Jagger came from Mick Jagger. Bowser is named after the Mario Brothers character in “Mario Kart.”

Describe your dogs’ personalities: Jagger is the runt of his litter, and he has always been very needy with people’s attention. He believes himself to be a lap dog but he’s 60 pounds. He is very smart and maternal when it comes to children. We call Bowser the gentle giant. He is 100 pounds but so friendly. He is very playful with his toys, loves to play fetch. He does whine a lot when he needs something from my husband or myself.

Describe the dogs’ relationship with each other: Jagger gets jealous when Bowser is getting too much attention. If Bowser is relaxing on the couch with us, Jagger will get a toy out of their toy box, which makes Bowser want to play. Jagger then promptly takes his spot on the couch.

What’s life like with the dogs each day? We have a morning routine. I wake up, take them for a walk, and when we return Jagger returns to bed under the covers while Bowser lays on the bathroom floor while I shower. He always has my back.

Who’s the boss in your house? We [Benz and her husband] are definitely the bosses. My dogs are very spoiled. They act so much like people sometimes it is hard to not treat them that way, but we have a good balance. They respect us and are very well trained.

How do you spoil Bowser and Jagger? When we travel they both don't eat well. The only way they will eat is if we sit and hold the bowl for them.

Do the dogs ever get to eat people food? Only if there are leftovers— and never from the table. They love any kind of meat, especially steak; their noses go crazy when we cook it. They also love bananas.

What do your dogs add to your family? Our pets are so special to us. It is nice having someone there that is happy to see you every time, especially after a bad day.
