GOLF GIFTS Par Golf Discount of Columbus might be just the place to find holiday gifts for the golfer in your life. The store, which has been in business for 30 years, has just about anything a person needs to play the game. Salesperson Dana Canter, who has been with the store for 25 years, says the merchandise is 30 percent off suggested retail prices.

You’ll discover all the pro lines and name-brand golf equipment; Canter says Mizuno is one of the most popular. You’ll also find men’s, women’s and junior apparel, along with a selection of OSU goods. There are golf bags, carts, clubs, balls, shoes, training aids, tees, gifts, games and other course essentials. For the personal touch, Canter says you can have a logo put on just about everything. Service and knowledge are their forte, he says, and they get many return customers.

Par Golf Discount, 5863 Sawmill Rd. (in the Cranston Center), 792-3553. Open Mon-Fri 10 am-8 pm, Sat 10 am-6 pm, Sun 11 am-5 pm.

COLLEGE COMPS If you’re a student with a college ID, you might want to take your card along on shopping sprees. A number of clothing stores offer various discounts with a college ID, including Ann Taylor (20 percent off), Banana Republic, J. Crew and Madewell (15 percent off) and Ann Taylor Loft and Charlotte Russe (10 percent off). Students may find discounts at other stores as well—it never hurts to ask.

OLD TREASURES, NEW LOOKS Meredith Piccin took her education in art and design and turned it into the business Honey Rose & K Modage Baubles. She named the business after her grandmother, Honey, who was a window dresser in New York City. Piccin finds vintage hidden gems in flea markets, antique stores and thrift shops and turns them into modern accessories. She’ll also take a customer’s own treasure and give it new life.

For $25 to $70, you can get a piece of vintage costume jewelry or a silk scarf that’s been re-created to your tastes. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. (Her work has even been featured in Teen Vogue.) You can make an appointment for your piece at 284-9411. Some of her designs can be seen at Objects for the Home in Grandview, Rowe in the Short North, Celebrate Local at Easton through January and at honeyrosenk.com, or shop online at storeyhorsevintage.com.

STILL IN STYLE Nick Damiani likes New York City’s Soho area so much, he named his fashion and furniture exchange store after it. The upscale consignment shop, which opened in July 2010, offers fashions, home décor items, gifts, candles and furniture at a fraction of the retail prices. Damiani says he is particular about what he accepts and tries to stock current styles.

Coach purses are among Soho’s top sellers. Damiani says he authenticates each Coach bag. Other brands include Burberry, St. John, Ann Taylor, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, North Face, Talbots and Ralph Lauren. In addition to an OSU corner, the store has men’s casual clothing in sizes small to XX and a large selection for women in sizes 0 to 26. You’ll see shoes for men as well as casual and dressy wear for women. At this time of year, you can choose from a good selection of fur coats priced from $250 to $1,000.

There is some furniture and a wide array of home accessories. Consignors get 50 percent of the sale price on their items. The shop also sells new candles from the Warm Glow Candle Company in Centerville, Indiana.

Soho Fashion and Furniture Exchange, 7424 Sawmill Rd. (at Sawmill Pointe on the southeast corner of Sawmill and Hard roads, about three blocks north of I-270), 889-5050; sohofx.com. Open Tue-Fri 11 am-7 pm, Sat 10 am-6 pm, Sun noon-5 pm; closed Mon.
