Jessica Felice & Nick Cappuzzello

Commercial actress and Columbus native Jessica Felice said “I do” to Nick Cappuzzello on Dec. 31, 2011, at Holy Family Church on West Broad Street. The couple then welcomed the New Year at the Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square with 325 guests.

Felice, who graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School, moved to California after winning “All American Girl,” an ABC talent contest and reality show, in 2003. (Felice recently has worked with Reebok and Ford Motor Company.)

And this isn’t the first time Felice has been featured in Columbus Monthly: She appeared in 2003 on the cover of the magazine’s Best of Columbus issue.

The couple met in 2009 while playing on a kickball team in southern California. (Cappuzzello, who also is from Ohio, moved west seven years ago.)

“We realized we had love for a lot of things Ohio,” says Felice.

Cappuzzello proposed to Felice in April 2011 after a whirlwind weekend that included dinner at an upscale restaurant and a hiking trip. On that Sunday, Cappuzzello planned to pop the question on a sailing expedition, but his plan was thwarted when they both became seasick. Finally, after dinner that night during a walk at sunset, he asked Felice if she would like to have a lifetime of great weekends as his wife.

The bride admits planning a New Year’s Eve wedding was a delicate balance. “We wanted it to be very wedding focused, but didn’t want to forget it was a special day for our guests as well,” says Felice. She adds that when midnight neared, the TVs were tuned into the Times Square celebration in New York City. They also had hats and Mardi Gras beads available for guests.

While Cappuzzello says his favorite moment was seeing his wife walk down the aisle, Felice notes riding in a horse-drawn carriage after the ceremony. She also planned a surprise for her groom during the reception by performing a song while a slideshow she created of their lives played.

Felice says she and Cappuzzello get along because their strengths and weaknesses help balance each other. But Cappuzzello jokes the reason their relationship works is: “I’m hilarious, and she likes to laugh at my jokes.”

The newlyweds reside in Santa Monica, and they plan to take a spring honeymoon in Hawaii.
