Caravaggio gets longer gig
To honor the Columbus bicentennial, the Columbus Museum of Art has extended Caravaggio: Behold the Man! through Feb. 12. This exhibit commemorates the bicentennial though the celebration of the sister city relationship between Columbus and Genoa, Italy.
Caravaggio is known for the use of dramatic lighting and realistic style in his paintings. Perhaps one of his most famous works, Ecce Homo (Behold the Man), is the centerpiece of CMA's exclusive exhibition.

I was very much looking forward to seeing the Caravaggio exhibit and even had friends who love Caravaggio's works and have seen many of them in Italy come from out-of-state to see it the CMA show. Unfortunately, I was not only stunned to see that in the entire exhibit there was only one work actually done by Caravaggio but also embarrassed that my friends had traveled so far for only one painting. While it was interesting to see how other contemporaries of Caravaggio's attempted to imitate his style, it seems a bit disingenuous to call this a "Caravaggio Exhibit."
