Coal oven fires up pizza and music

Worthington will soon be home to Natalie’s Coal-Fired Pizza, believed to be the first place using the coal cooking technique in the state. Charlie Jackson, whose day job is director of Pickaway County’s visitors bureau, will run the pizzeria with his daughter (and restaurant namesake) Natalie when it opens in early June at 5601 N. High St.

Natalie discovered the pizza-cooking style while living in New York City. In addition to using top-of-the-line ingredients and clean-burning anthracite coal, the pair is hoping to convert the space into a venue for music acts both small and large.

“We want to be known for doing both food and music really well,” Charlie Jackson says.
