It was a flashback to the 1970s as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation hosted its annual Promise Ball May 1 at the Hilton Polaris. The evening’s 380 guests enjoyed go-go dancers, silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing. The honorees were doctors Steven and Patricia Gabbe, whose story of progress through the decades helped highlight the evening’s message of the promise to find a cure for diabetes. The event raised $440,000, with Fund A Cure contributions of more than $120,000 allocated for regeneration and replacement beta cell therapies.
