Physician recruiter, OhioHealth

Karlie Sites
SITES MEETS AND RECRUITS some of the best physicians in the country for OhioHealth by day, but in her free time, she’s a dedicated dancer and choreographer. “I started tapping when I was 2 years old,” she says. Dancing has taken her many places, including performing for President Bill Clinton, choreographing a number for Dionne Warwick and even sharing a stage with Gregory Hines, who was at Ohio University for a show while Sites was an undergrad there. Hines surprised the audience by inviting dancers to join him. “Of course I had my shoes with me,” says Sites, laughing.

I LOVE TO READ:

A Light in the Attic, by Shel Silverstein. I can’t wait till my nephew is old enough to understand it. It made me want to be a poet.

I LOVE TO WATCH:

The Boondock Saints and The Goonies. I went as Data for Halloween once.

FAVORITE MUSIC:

Since I’m a dance teacher, I have to listen to everything. I have to stay up-to-date with what the kids listen to, but my favorite band is Foo Fighters.

WHAT MY BEST FRIENDS WOULD SAY ABOUT ME:

They would say I’m outgoing. I’m usually their comedic relief. I like to think they would say I’m there when they need me.

WHERE I SEE MYSELF IN FIVE YEARS:

I’m writing a fiction novel, and I would like to have that finished.

THE MOST UNIQUE WAY I’VE MET SOMEONE:

I once met a man when I was choreographing and performing in Miss Ohio. He came up to me after one of the shows and said he was unable to take his eyes off me when I was onstage. It was very sweet.

THE WORST DATE I’VE EVER HAD:

I met a guy and he took me out on his motorcycle. About an hour and a half from where I live, my contact flies out of my eye. He can’t hear me, because we’re on I-70 on a Harley. We stopped near Buckeye Lake. I’m squinting, covering one eye. He probably thought something was extremely wrong with me. I told him what happened. My cousin is an optometrist and he called in a prescription to the closest Walmart. It was pretty awful. We didn’t go on a second date.

THE FIRST THING I WANT TO KNOW WHEN I MEET SOMEONE NEW:

If their goals are in line with my own. If they appear relaxed and have a smile on their face, that speaks volumes to me. First impressions can be vital, but I also believe it takes some time to truly get to know someone.
