More than 400 guests gathered at COSI Feb. 7 to show their support of Franklin County’s youth at the 19th Annual Champion of Children Signature Event. The hour-long televised program featured a panel discussion on a report created by Learn4Life entitled “Franklin County’s Children: a look at their lives in and out of the classroom,” followed by an awards ceremony to honor the 2012 Champions of Children. Patrick Losinski, Chief Executive Officer of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, was the individual award winner, and Action for Children was the first-ever Champion of Children Nonprofit Organization award winner. Tickets to the event were $75 per person or $125 per couple, and $176,000 was raised for ongoing programs. Champion of Children encompasses all of United Way of Central Ohio’s efforts in education, from funding and public policy to volunteers and engagement.
