So I'm in NYC for Fashion Week, lovin' life, hating my heels (or, at least, hating them as I write this at midnight after walking roughly half a billion miles). There are so many musings to share...
*Luca Luca showed a nice mix of textures--fur, satin--and focused on one of my personal favorite colors: green. There was olive green, golden green, and various greens between. There were touches of orange and raspberry, too. Fitted waistlines, flowy skirts. Lovely show, very wearable goodies. My favorite piece: a dark olive, almost brown leather and fur cape. Super fab. *Love, love, love Tadashi Shoji. Everyone was buzzing about his show, and he delivered. There were a lot of feather details on his dresses and skirts--sometimes real feathers and other times organza cut and sewn to give a feathery sort of effect. Lots of black, navy and ivory, with a little silvery pebble and a couple bright, solid-colored chiffon gowns. He showed a few interesting one-shoulder pieces, too. I was more excited about his show than any other and left even more impressed than I thought I'd be.
*Olympic ice skater Johnny Weir was sitting like 10 feet from me at the Tadashi Shoji show. He's kind of fabulous (as was his enormous fur coat that I definitely saw him wearing in a People magazine spread earlier this year). *Mini bottles of Fiji water make me smile. *I'm not sure what I've seen more of: Leopard prints or surgical enhancements. *Are there any so-called celebrities left who aren't reality TV stars? *I'm amped for tomorrow's lineup (or my lineup tomorrow, at least): NAHM (Cbus native Nary Manivong and Ally Hilfiger), Rebecca Taylor, Joy Cioci and Venexiana. *My hot, high little black booties are comfortable in Cbus. They are not comfortable 8 miles into NYC. They are almost tear-inducingly uncomfortable at midnight. *I will forget that last sentence six hours from now, when I wake up, gleefully zip 'em on, and start over. My riding boots remain on standby; it's just too early yet to give in.
