Tomorrow, photographer Lauryn Byrdy unveils her new blank-slate style event space, The Nest, next to her Upper Arlington studio on Arlington Avenue. Last week, I got a sneak peak of the 1,700-square-foot open area, which could be a fun locale for an upcoming bridal shower, rehearsal dinner or intimate wedding (they've hooked up with Tasi Café for breakfast and lunch catering, as well as nearby Park Creek Kitchen for dinner events). Brydy hopes The Nest will find its niche in being versatile. "You can create what you want for each event-from catering to décor," Byrdy says. "Our aim is to give an opportunity and space to up-and-coming local artists. And we want to support local business with it." The white-washed space will find color from local artists-from CCAD and the Upper Arlington Arts Commission to start-to bring in rotating exhibits. The split-level first floor could make a unique setting for intimate soirees. Yoga on High has committed to hosting classes a few nights a week. And although Brydy can't share any details yet, she is working on securing art shows and pop up restaurants and shops, the latter which could feature local designers, accessories and home goods. So keep an eye on this space. Regular hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with some special event weekends to follow. Check the space out during their open house reception May 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 2132 Arlington Ave. For more, visit TheNestGallery.com. –Beth Stallings
