The clamor of Irish dance shoes and the sound of Celtic music will fill the Thomas Worthington High School auditorium Thursday night.

The students of the Richens/Timm Academy of Irish Dance in Dublin will perform in the 2010 recital, "Colours of Dance." Renowned Irish dance instructor Ann Richens choreographed the program, which features a mix of traditional and contemporary arrangements.

"Irish dancing is generally exciting and energetic, and people really enjoy watching it," Richens said. "We have a very interesting recital. It is more of a concert than a recital."

The performance includes dancers ages 5-18, ranging from beginners to world qualifiers.

"Our dancers are very well-prepared and, although their dance is very simple, it is also very well done," Richens said. "Our senior dancers put on a good show."

The Irish Dance Association of Columbus is sponsoring the lively, two-hour celebration. Advance tickets are available at www.richenstimm.com.
