The beautiful young woman on our cover is her class president at Worthington Kilbourne, captain of her varsity soccer team, and hoping to head to either the U.S. Naval or Air Force academies--before going to law school.

Seriously.

And as impressive as she is, there's more where she came from. It's the most astounding thing I've learned working on our inaugural issue of Capital Style Prom: You girls are just so impressive in so many ways.

You'll also meet a handful of other young women who blew us away. We asked principals, counselors and others around the city to nominate some of their highest-achieving girls, and we were wowed.

We chose eight to highlight as our fashion models. Because in the end, the substance behind the style is what matters most.

But clearly, you all already have the substance. So we hope this magazine offers a fun way to get giddy about the style part, too.
