Slide your top hats on and lace your dancing shoes up, because the Columbus Museum of Art's 2012 Art Celebration is providing the city with its own European cabaret. The annual soiree, which has helped support the museum for 65 years, is back on Oct. 13. This year's "Spot Lights, Hot Nights" theme is taking a cue from cabarets of the 1930s. "It's very glamorous," says museum spokeswoman Nancy Colvin. More than 500 guests will enjoy food, drinks, art and cabaret-style music, and VIP ticket-holders will be treated to a performance by the Short North Stage Players. Plus, Art Celebration coincides with Art Fusion, a recently added (and more affordable) event held simultaneously at the museum and tailored to young professionals. The two events merge late in the evening. "We start the dancing in the Derby Court," Colvin says, "and everyone gets to party the night away together."
Art Celebration will kick off with a VIP reception performance by the Short North Stage Players, including actress Kaitlin Descutner, shown here. Tickets for Art Celebration cost $400 for general admission and $650 for VIP. Tickets for Art Fusion start at $100. For more, visit ColumbusMuseum.org or call 614-629-0344.
