A daylong celebration of family
The New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix & Family Day is a horse competition, yes. And it draws 30 of the top pro riders from around the world. But more than that, it's a daylong celebration of family-and one that helps families in need. Now in its 16th year, the Sept. 22 event hosted by Abigail Wexner at her home features carnival rides, games, food and a concert, and is the primary fundraiser for The Center for Family Safety and Healing. (It has raised nearly $20 million for The Center since its inception.)
This year's musical acts, which take the stage at 11 a.m., include Ariana Grande and Emblem3. The Invitational Grand Prix begins at 2 p.m. and will be preceded by a celebratory retirement ceremony for Wexner's Olympian horse Authentic, one of the world's most elite show jumpers. Event tickets, which are only sold in advance online, cost $20, and children 10 and younger are free with an adult admission.
