The ballet is poised to take the stage for a run of 16 performances
With a recently rebuilt set and refreshed costumes, BalletMet's The Nutcracker is poised to take the stage at the venerable Ohio Theatre for a run of 16 performances in 13 days. The annual holiday show tells the story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince, who journey to the magical Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
And it draws quite a crowd over its couple-week schedule: More than 30,000 people have attended each of the past three years. The show includes BalletMet professionals, along with more than 150 students from the company's dance school who take turns filling each show's 68 student roles.
The Nutcracker Ballet runs from Dec. 12 to Dec. 24. Tickets cost $25 at BalletMet.org.
