Makeup is eternally difficult to buy. In most drugstores, testing the sealed products is impossible, while in order to try a product at a pricey department store, you have to go through an entire sales pitch and makeover just to test one product.

Usually, shopping online for makeup sounds like an even worse approach — you can’t even tell whether the product can work, let alone if it will look good on you.

BeautySage, an online beauty product website created by YouBeauty.com, changes things. The site only sells beauty and wellness products that have been tested and proven to work by a team of editors, chemists and real people giving honest reviews.

Each product on BeautySage ( http://www.beautysage.com/ ) contains detailed information about its ingredients, usage and whether the claims live up to practice. Additionally, users can dispute these claims (or verify them) in the special reviews section on each product’s page.

BeautySage lives up to its own claims of only featuring worthwhile products. Only four brands of nail polish (in multiple colors, of course) are featured on the site.

There is no lack of available product, though. BeautySage sells many different brands and types of makeup, skincare products, fragrances, bath and body products and wellness items.

The site is currently offering free shipping and, for those who sign up for their emails, $10 a $30 or more purchase. Not to mention, they offer a SagePoints program. For every dollar you spend, you earn a point. 100 points means $10 to spend in the store. The only question is, which summer products are most worth the money?

— Need to discreetly deodorize?

The Aim To Be Pleased Deodorette is a take-anywhere underarm deodorant that is small enough to fit in a clutch or pocket, and perfect for sticky summer weather. The cute packaging and cherry blossom and sandalwood scent are just perks of this useful product. The deodorette is all natural and perfect for all skin types, according to BeautySage. The Aim To Be Pleased Deodorette costs $10.

— Hoping for a painless bikini wax?

Dr. Edna’s BareEase bikini wax kit aims to take the hurt out of hair removal. And since BeautySage recommends it, it’s almost guaranteed to work! The product includes a BareEASE panty, which users slip on half an hour prior to their wax. The Lidocaine formula numbs the skin, making the wax easy. The kit also contains aloe to soothe and jojoba to moisturize. Dr. Edna’s BareEASE bikini wax kit costs $18.

— Want to cover all bases?

Lip2Cheek is a multi-tasking color infused balm that is an all-natural way to color your lips and cheeks. It promises to stay put while rejuvenating, softening and replenishing skin with coconut and jojoba seed oils. The Smile shade of Lip2Cheek is a soft coral that blends well on summer skin and looks great with a beachy glow. Lip2Cheek in Smile sells for $36.
