Latos scratched; Herrmann outrighted to Columbus

Cincinnati Reds right-hander Mat Latos will not pitch for the Louisville Bats against the Clippers tonight on a major league rehab assignment in Huntington Park

Latos is on the disabled list with knee and right elbow issues. He was penciled in as the starter yesterday but that has changed.

Reds manager Bryan Price announced this afternoon in St. Louis that Latos had elbow inflammation and would be backed up a couple of days on his rehab. Jeff Francis will start for the Bats in the Wednesday 11;35 a.m. finale against T. J. House.

The Cleveland Indians, meanwhile, announced today that relief pitcherFrank Herrmann had cleared waivers and has been outrighted to the Clippers. No word on when to expect Herrmann to arrive. He had Tommy John surgery in March 2013 and missed the season. Before the Indians designated him for assignment on March 30.

Cleveland director of player development Ross Atkins is in Huntington Park today. He said that he expected Herrmann to join the Clippers "within a week."
