If you’re a fan of Tyra Banks’s “America’s Next Top Model,” Dominique Reighard might look familiar. Reighard, who wed Brian Brooks on July 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church, was in the final four in the show’s 10th cycle, which aired in 2008.
Reighard and Brooks, who owns E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Co., were introduced in January 2007. The bride explains they met through mutual friends who were dating at the time. “Ever since that first day, he was harassing my friend about meeting me again. He kept calling, so I decided to meet him. We’ve been together ever since.”
Brooks proposed to Reighard the day before Thanksgiving in 2008 in the courtyard of his church. Afterward, the couple went inside the place of worship and the groom’s pastor prayed for them. “It was really perfect,” says the bride. Brooks was given the task of setting the date. His brother died when they were younger from cancer, and July 10 was his birthday. “It made him feel like he was with him on that day,” Reighard says.
For the wedding, Reighard wore a Vera Wang dress, veil and shoes. She says the flowers came from Kroger, and the reception was held right behind the church at the YWCA. Her 5-year-old daughter, Ceylone, was the flower girl. “She didn’t throw any flowers . . . she dropped them right where we would be standing. She was so cute.”
Of her wedding day, she adds, “I felt as if it made everything official. It was a very overwhelming day. I cried before I walked down the aisle. I felt so confident and good.” When the couple exited the church, there was a surprise awaiting Reighard. Brooks had arranged for Columbus Pedicab to transport their 100 guests from the church to the reception.
A week following their nuptials, the newlyweds jetted off to Mexico for their honeymoon. “I just feel like we’re the perfect team. The way we work together and the character of this man. I know he’s it. I feel so blessed.”
