I thoroughly enjoyed columnist Jory Farr's piece about Brian Lucey and the art of mastering ["Sound judgment"-May]. He and his band Nude were on one of the several compilation projects I did years ago. I knew then there was something magical about what he was doing. I recall walking into his King Avenue home as he worked on that project and the entire first floor was converted to a recording studio with a massive mixing board. It was like walking into another world. I just thought to myself, "This guy is light years ahead of the scene. What's he doing in Columbus?" His work on the Black Keys' Brothers, which won three Grammy Awards this year, proves my inclination right.
