After nearly two years looking at the Columbus market, Toledo-based Bar 145 was slated to open late December in Grandview (955 W. Fifth Ave.). Owner Jeremy Fitzgerald hopes this 5,400-square-foot pub with "chef-driven, fancy bar food" will attract a wide clientele with its focus on burgers, bourbon and live music. The bar name comes from the temperature to which a medium-rare burger is cooked-145 degrees. Servers wear red Chuck Taylors, and food is served on white china. The juxtaposition, Fitzgerald says, illustrates the attitude here-a casual and hip place where food is taken seriously. In addition to $9 build-your-own-burgers, the gastropub offers upscale pub grub like bone marrow, charcuterie and scotch eggs. "Our shared plates make us very unique," Fitzgerald says. Behind the bar, there are more than 30 bourbons and 40 beers. On the weekends, they'll host cover bands. During the week, look for jazz nights and dueling pianos.
