A photography show celebrates 50 years of Beatlemania
In 1964, the Beatles came to the U.S. for the first time and performed on CBS's "The Ed Sullivan Show," and so began Beatlemania. The Beatles! Backstage and Behind the Scenes, a traveling exhibit that celebrates the 50th anniversary of that performance, opens at Capital University's Schumacher Gallery on Jan. 20. The show includes 84 never-before-published photos from CBS archives, captured by Life photographer Bill Eppridge just before the band's 1964 world tour. Experience those first performances, the arrival of the rising pop phenoms to the U.S. and their screaming fans at the exhibit, for which an opening reception will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 7.
