Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill is rolling out a new menu over Memorial Day weekend, and I got a chance to sample some of the new items earlier this week. Chef Mark Johnston has put together a solid collection of bar food with a twist.

The first incarnation of the Hall of Fame Grill menu was "5-star sports bar" fare, with lots of unexpected options. But they found the burgers sold the best, by far. The new mantra? "Stick with burgers and be the best at it."

The new menu does have plenty of burgers, from the standard lettuce-tomato-onion-pickle to the Huevos Locos Burger, topped with pepperjack cheese, a sunny-side-up egg, jalapenos, guacamole and tortilla strips. There's also sandwiches, wraps, pasta dishes, salads and some great appetizers.

Pictured at top, Chicken Nachos: fresh-made tortilla chips topped with rotisserie chicken, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and cheese.

Maytag Blue Cheese Chips: kettle-cooked potato chips topped with blue cheese bechamel. Fantastic.

Pretzel Bites with Beer Cheese Sauce. The sauce is cheddar, Tabasco, Columbus Brewing Company Pale Ale and Stadium Mustard. So good we requested they start serving it as a bowl of soup.

Spinach Salad: baby spinach, strawberries and blue cheese

Greek Isle Turkey Burger: With sun-dried tomato mayo, feta cheese, red onion and arugula.

Buckeye Ranch Wrap: a cheddar tortilla around rotisserie chicken, jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers and ranch.

Seared Tuna: fantastic ahi tuna medallions served with a jicama-poppyseed salad

Farmer's Market Cobbler: seasonal fruits in cobbler form, served in an adorable little cast-iron skillet and topped with a scoop of Johnson's vanilla.
