Did you know the MoJoe Lounges in Short North and German Village have revamped, Ohio-ingredient-centric menus created by the chain's new chef, William Fugitt? Fugitt was most recently chef de cuisine at Rigsby's Kitchen, and he will be running the new MoJoe-affiliated restaurant in the old Lazarus space across from Columbus Commons. It's slated to open by the beginning of July.

I grabbed lunch on the German Village MoJoe's great brick-lined patio on this hot afternoon to try out a few of the new options.

My Smoked Salmon Melt came from the Small Plates portion of the menu, and I added a cup of fresh fruit as a side dish. The sandwich kind of like a grilled cheese with a thin layer of salty, smoky pink salmon, paired with melted Ohio gouda, Thousand Island dressing and some red cabbage slaw. Tasty.

Also grabbed a bite of my friend's Hummus Wrap, which was packed with lots of grilled veggies and some good, slightly spicy hummus.

Some other delicious-sounding items spotted on the menu:

Ohio Grilled Cheese: Gouda, Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses, all from Ohio, served on Italian bread, $8

Housemade Blackbean Burger: Served with lettuce, tomato and crispy leeks and spicy ketchup, $10

Chicken Tenders: Beer-battered Ohio chicken served either lightly seasoned or Buffalo style, $10

MoJoe Spicy Fries: Crisp fries dusted in Cajun spices and served with garlic aoli, $5
