I'm getting super excited about this weekend's Hills Foodie Fair and Spelling Bee, which will be taking over the Worthington grocery store's parking lot all day Saturday.
The festival benefits Local Matters, and a very full day of activities is planned, including a kids cooking contest, a hot dog eating contest, a live auction and a spelling bee for foodies. But what I'm most excited about is a street food food court featuring lots of dishes made with local ingredients.
Here's the lineup for the Street Food Fair:
Boar's Head Hot Dogs Cheesy Truck Clever Crow Pizza Darista Cafe Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams Junior's Tacos Leslie's Creperie Munchbox Flatbreads Pattycake Bakery Sassafras Bakery Short North Bagel Deli
P.S., that gorgeous pie pictured at the top is from Sassafras Bakery. And yes, you'll want to try one.
Eating is one part of the Foodie Fair, but there will be drinking too. Local Matters volunteers will pour beer and wine on the Hills Veranda all day, and I'll host a blind wine tasting at 2:30 p.m. How it works: you pay $5 for four wines, and the goal is to identify as many wines as you can by varietal and region. Fun!
Oh, and there's live music all day, too, from The Shazzbots, Jason Quicksall and Bree Frick, and The Randys.
Hope to see you there!
