Flaming cheese! Appetizers don't get much more exciting than that, and the Saganaki was indeed the highlight of a recent dinner at Easy Street Cafe in Powell. It's a block of Greek kasseri cheese that's sauteed in butter till melty, then soaked in 151 and lit on fire. Our waiter was a little less than energized when shouting the traditonal "opa!" before putting out the flame with some lemon juice, but it still beats most appetizer presentations. And the resulting grilled cheese smeared onto some soft pita triangles was super tasty.

Some other warm and cheesy appetizers I'm particularly fond of:

Harvest Pizzeria's Warm Ricotta w/crostini, lavender honey, balsamic vinegar, $8. Bonus points for looking adorable--it's served in a mini Mason jar.

Black Creek Bistro's Fried Brie: herb-breaded brie with berry medley and toast points, $9. How do you make brie even more delicious? Frying it, of course. The berries are a nice touch, too.
