Milestone 229's executive chef Christian Hattemer has departed the kitchen for a new gig in Louisville.

Hattemer, who's been working in Columbus restaurants since graduating from Ohio State in 1987 (that's him on the left in the picture above, with former boss Kent Rigsby), will be launching a series of dining options with Louisville's Galt House Hotel, starting with a bourbon bar sometime before the end of this year. A deli and ice cream shop are set to come early next year. The Galt House is a sprawling, 1,300-room hotel that's known as the official accomodations for the Kentucky Derby.

Hattemer's executive sous chef, Nick Lombardo, took over the top role starting today.

"My time at Milestone has been fantastic," Hattemer says. "I think my chef team there will do an amazing job."

He'll report to his new job beginning Oct. 1.
