The Relationship: George started purchasing produce from Wayward-through the Mobile Market and text messages-two years ago, and the farm is his lead source for local produce.

The Education: For George, purchasing produce from Wayward Seed is as much about the relationship as it is quality. He relishes the one-on-one, personal relationship he's established. He also understands it takes a certain type of chef-or restaurant-to work with Wayward's style.

"There are not a whole lot of people out there that can take what they have on a truck and do something with it," George says. "That's where chefs like me come in. I can take these obscure vegetables and make something people want to try.

"Now people recognize these special ingredients and herbs and experiment with them. If they see purple-scallion marmalade, they'll not shy away because they've seen purple scallions at the market."
