Limited tickets are on sale now for a new kind of beer festival in Grandview. The Grandview High Gravity Hullabaloo promises to be a celebration of strong beers and smoked meats on Feb. 1.

This will be the first event hosted by the newly founded nonprofit Grandview Craft Beer Alliance, a newly formed nonprofit looking to promote and support local craft beer businesses in the Grandview, Marble Cliff and 5xNW neighborhoods.

All beers served at the Hullabaloo, located inside an old warehouse at the Grandview Yard, will have an ABV of 8 percent on higher. Expect one to five offerings from local breweries including Actual Brewing Co., Barley's Smokehouse & Brewpub, Four String Brewing Co., Hoof Hearted Brewing, North High Brewing and Seventh Son Brewing Co. There will also be smoked pig from Barley's, appetizers from Matt the Miller's and pies from Honeykiss Bakery. The evening will also include retro arcade games and a DJ.

"We tried to pull out the things we liked about [other beer festivals]. Instead of having 10 million beers to try, we wanted to focus on strong beers and showcase some of the awesome stuff local brewers are doing," says Grandview Craft Beer Alliance co-founder Laura Oldham.

And because they didn't want to leave designated drivers out, DD's will get a pint glass and be able to sample soda from Rambling House Soda and coffee from Actual Brewing. "We want to make sure people who are driving have something more interesting to try than water," Oldham says.

Tickets are $50 for regular admission or $20 for a designated driver. All tickets are advance sales only. Tickets include a T-shirt, collectible glass, beer samples and food.
