Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.
When you hear the term “camp,” you may think of roughing it rather than romance. Vivien and Austin McClain, however, defied stereotypes with their “Camp McClain”-themed wedding that featured “a woodsy, romantic feel,” says Vivien.
Austin proposed while on a walk by the water at a lake house in the Hocking Hills, known for its scenic landscapes. Their wedding, exactly one year following their engagement, mirrored the beautiful, outdoorsy ambiance of their proposal. Vivien says the ceremony, which took place at Camp Mary Orton, was an “intimate setting, surrounded by trees.”
The wedding décor was no exception to the down-to-earth nature of Vivien and Austin’s big day. Everything was either handmade or collected by the couple, including wine barrels filled with ferns from their home and recycled bottles, all of which friends and family used to decorate the whole venue.
And what’s a wedding without a little fun? While they had great musical entertainment—including a DJ, pianist, and Vivien’s own father—the real crowd pleaser of the night was their WWE-themed grand entrance, to celebrate Austin’s love of wrestling. The bridal party came out as different wrestling duos, and the bride and groom portrayed Stone Cold Steve Austin, complete with his signature chug. “The whole place erupted with cheers as Austin wore his leather vest and I carried a WWE belt! It was so fun,” says Vivien.
