Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.

Three and half years after Vanessa Foreman and Matthew Carter reconnected at a high school reunion, the pair took a trip to Sarasota, Florida. While there, the two took a kayaking trip through a mangrove forest. (Anyone else getting Notebook vibes?) It was there, sitting in a kayak under the tunnels of mangrove branches, that Matthew proposed.

A year later, the two found themselves walking down the aisle. Suddenly, the two-year age difference that had separated them in high school shrunk to mere feet. And while their wedding day had no scarcity of memories, from striking indoor settings to custom cocktails, it was that moment of seeing each other across the aisle that both Vanessa Foreman Carter and Matthew Carter will cherish most.
