Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.
Morgan and Peter Martin met in their senior year of college. After a stint of long-distance dating, it became clear to Peter that distance does in fact make the heart grow fonder: He decided to propose, with the blessing of Morgan’s parents. And the rest fell into place from there … kind of.
For the ceremony, the couple had prepared personal vows for each other. But on the day of, standing at the altar, Morgan realized she had accidentally printed Peter’s vows instead of her own. She quickly came up with some on the spot, but was embarrassed with how they would compare to Peter’s. Instead of one-upping his about-to-be-wife, Peter ripped up his paper and made up his vows on the fly, too.
“Most of the time, the best parts of the wedding are the ones no one plans for,” Morgan reminisces.
