Lauren and Julian Sullinger describe themselves as “nontraditional,” and they designed their wedding to match. The couple asked the people closest to them to join them in the ceremony, which “made for a very large, not-so-uniform wedding party,” says Lauren, “but it was special because we had those that loved us most right next to us.”

Lauren and Julian also wrote their own (nontraditional) vows, were married by Lauren’s brother, and asked each of their fathers and their daughter to speak during the ceremony. The couple, who met through mutual friends just after high school and dated for more than a decade, which might explain why the most memorable moment of the day wasn’t the reception—a common answer—but when they were “standing at the altar and realizing that after all this time, we made it,” says Lauren.
