Celebrating the couples from our most recent issue on their anniversaries

First up is Kara and Alex Grant, who’s first year of marriage wrapped up yesterday. Their jewel-toned wedding and reception was beautiful, to be sure, but we won’t go into those details here. Instead, we encourage you to check out their full Real Wedding Wednesday post here.

The same day last year, Ali and Dave Hillard tied the knot in an elegant, autumn-themed wedding at the Sheraton at Capitol Square. Pumpkins and lanterns provided the décor, of course, much of which was coordinated by Ali herself. The Hillards put a fun spin on the classic “clink your cutlery against your stemware to solicit a kiss” game that’s rampant at most weddings: After the first kiss-on-demand, the DJ drew couples’ names to determine who would have the required kiss in lieu of the newlyweds.

And finally, Megan and Brett King’s second anniversary is today. The pair were wed at Liberty Presbyterian Church, with a reception following at The Lakes Golf and Country Club. Megan says their first look, ceremony and parent/child dances were the most memorable aspects of that day. Family plays another big role for Brett, she adds—he wears his late father’s wedding band. “It was a very personal and special way to honor his father,” Megan says.
