The local wildlife entertainer dives into TV.

Back in January, Columbus Monthly published “Who’s Next,” a feature package that identified 14 Central Ohioans making big names for themselves in their chosen fields—sports, arts, politics, business, dining and more. Coyote Peterson, one of those rising stars, has already made good on the prediction by inking a deal for a new Animal Planet TV show.

The Dispatch reported last Friday that Peterson had converted his success as the host of several wildlife-themed internet shows on his Brave Wilderness YouTube channel, which has more than 13 million subscribers, into an agreement to produce a new 30-minute show for the cable network. The unnamed show is set to debut sometime in 2019.

The Westerville resident and Ohio State film grad got his start snatching snapping turtles from a pond by his childhood home near Cleveland. Peterson later started a production company, Wilderness Productions, and launched his signature show, Breaking Trail, in 2014.
