Oregon won the meet-ending 1,600-meter relay (3 minutes, 23.13 seconds) and captured the NCAA women's track and field championship Saturday in Eugene, Oregon. With 64 points, the host Ducks edged Georgia (62.2) for the title.
Ohio State's 1,600 relay team, consisting of Maggie Barrie (Worthington Kilbourne), Beatrice Hamman (Dublin Coffman), Karrington Winters (New Albany) and Aaliyah Barnes (Eastmoor Academy), placed eighth (3:31.36).
Michigan State junior Katelyn Daniels, a junior from Olentangy Orange, took sixth in the discus (184 feet, 1 inch).
In the men's meet that concluded late Friday, Florida captured its fourth championship in the past six years for coach Mike Holloway, a Linden graduate. The Gators edged runner-up Texas A&M 61.5-59.5 for the title.
