Art contributed by the Bexley Women's Club
Bexley is known for its elegant estates, but charming homes come in all shapes and sizes. The Bexley Women's Club kept that in mind when planning this year's House and Garden Tour, aiming to showcase the mix of architectural styles found in the city.
"It's about uniqueness, it's about style, it's about diversity -- all different types of homes that are in our community because that's part of what makes Bexley so special," said Margaret Lewis, the tour's publicity chair.
This year's tour, themed "Our Stories, Our Streets," is set for Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A preview and garden soiree will be held on Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. featuring cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and desserts.
There are 14 stops on the self-guided tour, including eight homes and six gardens. And the tour is so well-loved that there's a waiting list of homeowners eager to participate, Lewis said.
Proceeds from the tour and preview party go to the Bexley Women's Club Scholarship Fund, which awarded 28 scholarships to local high school and college students this year.
$15 tickets are being sold in advance at www.bexleywomen.org. Tickets also can be purchased the day of the tour for $20 at the Columbus School for Girls, 56 S. Columbia Ave. --Dana Wilson
