The Short North Neighborhood Yard Sale isn't just about the thrill of finding a bargain.
The community-wide event, set for this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., "is a way to have a good time and bring people to the neighborhood," said Jim Mengel, administrator of the Short North Civic Association. The association sponsors the annual sale--the largest of its kind in the city.
More than 100 homeowners have signed up to participate from all neighborhoods in the Short North: Victorian Village, Harrison West, Italian Village, Dennison Place and the Circles. Their wares include furniture, household goods (everything from a clawfoot tub to small kitchen appliances), clothing, jewelry, books, CDs, DVDs, exercise gear, electronics and more.
To view a map and listing of the items for sale by address, visit www.shortnorthcivic.org. Mengel said the sale was planned to coincide with Saturday's Gallery Hop, which starts at 4 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. (Restaurants and bars remain open later.)
