Columbus has hosted a fashion week in years past, but the event has struggled to generate buzz. Undaunted, some area fashion lovers are trying again this year.

They've planned a week of events in the Short North that will culminate with a Downtown runway show at the Athletic Club of Columbus featuring New York designer Tad Boetcher, a Pickerington native, and area designers.

At the least, the lineup is certain to make for good people-watching. At most, the city might find itself with a sustainable weeklong fashion event.

Among the highlights: Oct. 9: Mayor Michael B. Coleman's High Fashion High Tea at Black Olive restaurant Oct. 11: Rockin' Denim at Voodoo Denim Lounge Oct. 12: Bridal Showcase at Big Rock Little Rooster Oct. 13: Hats Off to Champagne at Vino 100 Oct. 14: Short North Boutique Crawl Oct. 15: Undone brasserie show at the Social Oct. 16: Eye Candy at A Muse Gallery Oct. 17: finale runway show at the Athletic Club
