A week of shows, workshops and parties

How does a week of fashion shows, workshops and parties sound?

The first-ever Alternative Fashion Week, hosted by the Alternative Fashion Mob, starts this Saturday, June 1, with a Progressive Fashion Show during the Short North Gallery Hop. Models dressed in clothing from local boutiques will use High Street as their runway, ending up at the Garden Theatre for a Meet the Designers Cocktail Party. The runway show starts at 7 p.m. and the cocktail party at 9 p.m.

Monday, June 3, Brothers Drake Meadery is hosting a free screen-printing workshop at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, June 5, the Alternative Fashion Mob will head to Via Vecchia Winery for a painting class. The best part? You can sip some wine and snack as you paint a live model. The class is $30 and begins at 6 p.m.

Thursday, June 6, is the Alternative Fashion Show at Circus Club & Grub, starting at 6 p.m. Eat pizza and dance to music from DJ Charles Erickson of The Clampdown afterward. Donate what you can at the door.

Saturday, June 8, is the Grand Finale show from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Warehouse at 421 West State Street. Project Runway alum Suede, pictured above, will host the show, which will feature 10 collections from 10 Columbus designers. It's $25 for VIP seating and $10 for general admission. Head over to the after party at Rehab Tavern.

Sunday, June 9, you'll be able to buy the looks you saw the night before, as well as others, at a trunk show at the Short North Stage and Garden Theatre from 12 to 5 p.m.
