Four ways to wear the wardrobe staple

Columbus fashion guest blogger Maren Roth is owner of Short North boutiqueRowe. Here, she shows you how to get the most out of your favorite staple piece.

The classic LBD is a staple piece in your wardrobe. If you don't have one, you absolutely should! For this post on getting the most out of your favorite staple piece, I beganwith a long sleeve mini from Nation Ltd.Although it's a classic shape, the shoulder detail adds an unexpected element when you're wearing it all by itself.

Wearing a fitted LBD all by itself to work may not be standard office practice, but throw a structured blazer over it and voila, you have an office-appropriate outfit. I would add a simple gold necklace, classic pair of suede pumps and a gorgeous structured bag to finish off the look.

Cocktail Event:
Why not get a little wild with the accessories for a chic cocktail party? Because you're staying understated with the dress, try layering a few necklaces to make the ultimate statement necklace. There's nothing wrong with adding a little (or a lot) of bling to your look, so add some more sparkle with a clutch thatdazzles.I chose a really gorgeous pair of cage heels to add a bit of a wow factor-all the way from head to toe!

It's a standard rule here at Rowe that you just can't make it through a season without utilizing your leather jacket for almost every occasion. Here, we layered an oxblood leather jacket over our LBD (either tuck yours in for a more tailored look, or just ruche it up and wear it as a tunic over a pair of skinny jeans). Don't be afraid to add accessories, such as a wool baseball cap and cross body bag. To complete the look with an unexpected element, I chose a black leather wedge with a hint of animal print detail.

We love layers at Rowe, and there's no reason you can't layer up your LBD to add a little bit of playfulness to your look. I chose a plaid button down to add an unexpected pop of color and keep the look less serious. I finished it off with a long blazer vest to add structure. Because I envision this gal wearing this to an art opening, I added more texture and interest to the look with a cut out cage heel, multi-chain clutch and a rhinestone deco statement necklace-because like art, style is in the eye of the beholder!
