Name:Jennifer Felizardo

Age: 27

Residence: Columbus

Credentials: Bachelor's degree in fashion and retail management

My story: I've been sewing my whole life. I'm the middle child of five children and received a lot of hand-me-downs that weren't always in style. I used to tear them apart and try to create something one-of-a-kind. That's how my personal style was created. I began Phlipped Fashions as a school project on what trend I saw becoming big in the year 2014. I also had to write a business plan, thus Phlipped was born. I took my hobby of upcycling clothing and am in the process of making it my career.

Personal style: Casual, comfortable, boyish style

Favorite local stores: Royal Factory, Rag-O-Rama

Style icon: Emma Stone, Emeli Sande, Ellie Goulding

Favorite designers: Valentino, Jonathan Simkhai

True style is… whatever makes you comfortable. The ability to show your personality and walk proudly into a room is your style.

Inspiration for this collection: Outfits that you can wear from work to happy hour afterwards. One-of-a-kind pieces that you'll never see in the mall. I have also been listening to a lot of Avicii and Ellie Goulding while designing this line. Music is definitely a factor.

Biggest challenge in creating this collection: Using unconventional fabrics. As an upcycle designer, I usually take a shirt and turn it into a skirt. With this collection, I used fabrics from Goodwill, like pillow cases and bed sheets, and created my line that way.

Are items shown in this collection for sale?Yes, they will be for sale beginning April 28! Price points range from $35 to $125. Some will be on my website and others will be at the local boutique Royal Factory.

Do you do custom work?Yes, I do custom work. The price points vary on the length of time put into a piece.
