A handful of local style experts offer three travel essentials

Vacation season is (blessedly!) on the horizon.

So with packing on the mind, I asked a handful of local style experts what's in their bag.

Here, each offers three travel essentials.

-Kristy Eckert, @kristyeckert

Connie Leal Ballenger, owner of Leal boutique: I'd start with the By Malene Birger weekender bag ($675), which is a great expandable, indestructible piece of luggage that has style and functionality. Next, I'd pack a sandal that says "style" but gives comfort: the all-leather Sigerson Morrison toe ring sandal ($395). Last but not least, I'd take a Malene Birger scarf ($165). It can be worn for warmth on the plane or in a restaurant, or used as a sarong on the beach. (And I always take white jeans on any warm weather trip!) All are available at Leal, 2128 Arlington Ave., Upper Arlington.

Miranda Boyle, co-owner of Thread boutique: I'd take my monogrammed Gigi New York bag ($395); it has my initials, so there's no worry of anyone else mistaking it. I'd take my BeckSondergaard scarf ($115); it's a navy and cream snake print and big enough to use as a blanket on the plane but easy enough to accessorize with all my outfits. Lastly, I'd take a Lafco travel candle in Marine ($20); it even comes with its own set of matches! All are available at Thread, 1306 Grandview Ave., Grandview.

Allison Jayjack, owner of Ladybird boutique: First, I'd pack the BB Dakota "Beau" versatile printed track pants ($78); they can be worn during the day with a striped or vintage tee and at night with a silk tank, tailored blazer and heavy jewelry. Second, I recommend the Schutz "Amisha" slip-on sneakers ($148): They're comfortable, cool and neutral (read: versatile). Last, try the Boulevard "Lola" oversized tote ($198). The nylon is water resistant, lightweight and super durable, and it stores everything-while keeping your look polished. All are available at Ladybird, 716 N. High St., Short North.

Christy Walsh, personal wardrobe stylist with Wardrobe Therapy: First, fringe sandals. I am coveting Brian Atwood's "Casanova" black flat fringe sandals ($159.95 on eBay). Second, the sarong is having a major moment! It's great for a beach cover-up, and can easily double as a wrap for traveling. I recommend the Aish "Champa" sarong from Nordstrom ($110). Last, wide-brim hats are everything, and a big must for travel. Try the Rag and Bone floppy brim fedora ($195) from Saks Fifth Avenue.

Maren Roth, owner of Rowe Boutique: I'd take: Ray Ban aviators; they just work with everything ($160). The perfect black maxi dress; I recommend the Flynn Skye scoop-back maxi ($161). (The black maxi is also a great year-round investment, as I can throw a sweater or leather jacket over itand wear it with boots.) Neutral, skinny-strapped flip flops; I suggest Tkees ($51). And I can't help it-I have a fourth: The SanDiego Hat Co. packable visor ($25). All are available at Rowe Boutique, 718 N. High St., Short North.
