Weiland's Market launches mozzarella-making class on Saturdays

A fresh caprese salad, a melty margherita pizza, a perfectly crisp plate of chicken parmesan-they all have something in common: mozzarella.
And if you want it fresh, really fresh, then you just might want to make it yourself, which is why Weiland's Market is offering a cheese-making class at 10 a.m. every Saturday, starting with Aug. 9 and running through September.
Kent Rand, Weiland's cheesemonger, will walk you through an hour-long hands-on workshop on the essentials of making fresh mozzarella. And you'll be able to take a batch home with you, as well as a pound of mozzarella curd so you can practice your new craft. Rand will also pass out an illustrated recipe for you to reference.
Reservations are required a week in advance, and the class costs $25 per person or $40 per couple.
Email Rand at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (614) 267-9878 to reserve your spot.
If you're looking for a good recipe to use up some of that cheese, try this delicious-looking Peach, Mozzarella and Basil Salad we spotted on realsimple.com-a sweet and summery twist on the caprese.
