New shop Chelsea Borough has made its home in historic downtown Dublin

A new shop has made its home in historic downtown Dublin.

Chelsea Borough, at 54 S. High St., is a décor shop that specializes in an eclectic mix of new and vintage home accessories, from door-knob wine stops and owl candles to lamps to leather chairs.

Mother and daughter duo Tena and Christena Wentz, 58 and 28, both of Dublin, opened the store together. (Christena, who has a background in corporate retail, typically mans the fort.)

One month in, they're giddy about the positive reception and response.

"It's been amazing how many people have quickly noticed us," Christena said. "The biggest excitement is when they tell us they're going to tell their friends."

Aside from the vintage and new pieces, the shop also features work by nine local artists, including five painters, three glass makers and one photographer. Both Tena and Christena long have bought local art from wherever they travel, so featuring local artists in the store was an important element to them.

The shop's name was inspired by travel, too: Christena studied abroad in London, where she was inspired by The Royal Boroughs of Chelsea and Kensington.

The shop's mix, both said, is a reflection of their personal styles.

"We have clean, and we have rustic," Christena said. "And we have several pieces that are transitional."

Chelsea Borough is open 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays.
