Update: The date of this event has changed; An Evening with the Tuohys will now take place on Aug. 27 at the Ohio Theatre.
On Tuesday, May 19, the Tuohys-the family portrayed on the silver screen in "The Blind Side"-will bring their inspirational story to the Ohio Theatre for an event benefitting Making It Happen, a foundation formed by the family to provide support for children "fighting to survive in the invisible cracks of society." Through events like this, the foundation raises funds for children in need across the country.
All proceeds from the event will be invested in charity, with 50 percent invested here in Central Ohio. The May 19 event benefits Huckleberry House and OSU's Star House, Columbus-based organizations that assist at-risk teens and homeless youth through crisis programs, family-support groups, educational services and more.
The main presentation, during which the family will share their remarkable story, begins at 7:30 p.m. (a VIP cocktail hour begins at 6:30) and will be moderated by Emmy Award-winning journalist Harry Smith, an NBC News anchor and the host of A&E's Biography series. A 30-minute Q&A session will follow the Tuohys' presentation. Interested in attending? Purchase tickets here.
