The Short North is hosting a fashion show this weekend, and it's all about the never-before-seen.
Brand new, summertime fashions just in to Short North boutiques. Models sauntering between restaurant tables. A new public art piece to be unveiled in the neighborhood.
"Fashion Fresh" will bring current-season fashions from several Short North boutiques to Lemongrass Fusion Bistro. Those interested in seeing all the shops' latest in one stop can also take in a brunch menu of Lemongrass' most popular dishes.
Models will step between the restaurant's tables, offering the 100 in attendance an intimate view of the pieces.
"It's going to be a highly visual fashion show of summer fashions that all of the businesses are collaboratively creating," said John Angelo of the Short North Business Association, which is organizing the show. "The idea is to share with people the latest in fashion trends."
Boutiques will outfit two models each; those are Dr. Mojo, Jinny, Go Figure, Ladybird, Milk Bar, Paradise Garage, Rowe, Torso and Undone. Collier West owner Suzi West will emcee, while 10-TV anchor Andrea Cambern and Capital Style Publisher Katie Wolfe Lloyd will host.
The show will also benefit the Short North Business Association's art fund, which is raising money to create a new piece of public art perhaps a mural or sculpture that will be unveiled during Art Al Fresco this summer.
A $25 ticket also includes a brunch of mimosas and some of Lemongrass' most popular dishes, said manager Josh Brown like seafood Rangoon, chicken satay, spring rolls and a salad.
The restaurant's standby piano will be replaced with a DJ booth. Phia Salon stylists will style the models' hair, and Mukha Custom Cosmetics and Medi-Spa will apply makeup.
The joint show is one of the first of its kind in four or five years, but Angelo hopes to see it succeed as an annual event, he said.
Tickets are available at all participating retailers or through the Short North Business Association at 299-8050 ext. 11.Details Fashion Fresh, Short North fashion show
