3 outdoor excursions for those long summer days

Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Come to see the roaming bison-really, they're worth it-and stay to trek the 4.7-mile Darby Creek Greenway. With animal displays and stunning views, the on-site nature center is a must-visit when you need a break from the sun.

Scioto Audubon Metro Park

With the largest free outdoor climbing wall in the nation-more than 6,000 square feet and 35 feet high-this is where you'll want to bring adventurous out-of-towners. Easier, 10-foot boulders are available for the kids to climb, too.

Slate Run Historical Farm

Pigs, horses, turkeys, sheep … the gang's all here at this late-19th-century historical farm in Canal Winchester. Costumed interpreters share historic chores, give tours of the barn and farmhouse, and host workshops that range from draft horse harnessing to sheep shearing.
