The frenzy at the Lincoln Center tents, where many of the seasonal previews take place, might have well been on Mars.
The very small crowd gathered Monday in a gallery draped with gauzy fabric to see the kind of clothes a woman of means, but one who shuns the spotlight or fuss, would take on safari.
Wonder if the Olsen sisters are planning a trip?
Two years ago, they won the Council of Fashion Designers of America's top prize in womenswear and continue with the aesthetic that got them the prize. Shapes are long, lean and worn in lots of layers.
Some of the clothes were purposely crinkled or with unfinished edges, but the fabrics, including ribbon-weaved gazar, jacquards and silk boucle, were elegant.
A handful of looks seemed a little more shapely and refined, including an off-the-shoulder dress with delicate straps and sleeves that evoked opera gloves.
