HILLSBORO, Ohio (AP) — A jury has been chosen for the trial of an Ohio mayor who's also a veteran standup comedian.
The Times-Gazette in Hillsboro (http://bit.ly/2fiauI3 ) reports a jury of 10 women and two men was seated Monday for Drew Hastings' trial. The Republican mayor is accused of official misconduct and faces four felony counts.
Hastings' attorney has blasted the accusation that he falsified his residency by pointing out that Ohio's attorney general already investigated the matter in 2013. He says other charges are misleading.
Retired Summit County Common Pleas Judge Patricia Ann Cosgrove is hearing the case after a Highland County judge recused himself. Opening statements are expected Tuesday.
Hastings has appeared on Comedy Central and "The Tonight Show."
Hillsboro has about 6,600 residents and is located about 60 miles east of Cincinnati.
