When Irongate Equestrian Center opened this fall, the buzz was immediate. Industry pros dubbed it a destination wedding spot right here in Central Ohio. The farm's owner called it the rustic answer to Franklin Park Conservatory. Couples lined up to book their big days.

And, on Oct. 18, one lucky local couple became the first to tie the knot at Irongate-for free.

"We thought it would be cool to do a mock wedding at Irongate," says Lauren Lawson of VIP Events Management. "And then I mentioned we could give it away to a couple that had attended the open house."

Kassandra and Chris Detamore were chosen from among dozens of other couples.

"They are a bright, fun and enthusiastic couple," Lawson says. "They delayed getting married due to some financial hardships as well as the birth of their daughter. Kassandra expressed to me that she planned on postponing her dream wedding and getting married at (city hall). They just seemed like the right couple for Irongate's first wedding and deserved this gift."

Kassandra and Chris met on New Year's Eve in 2008 and hit it off immediately. "We went on three dates in a row, three days in a row," Kassandra says, laughing.

The two were engaged but, after the birth of daughter Layla, decided to put off a fancy wedding in order to save money. Kassandra had the dress and the ring, but all other planning was postponed.

"When I heard about the Irongate wedding, I texted Chris and said, 'How about getting married on October 18?' and he just laughed," Kassandra says. "He thought we were just going to the courthouse! But then when he got home I informed him of the plans."

Dozens of local wedding vendors chipped in services and time to make the day happen. Lawson coordinated the details of the day, while All Occasions Catering created the menu. Nicole Dixon of Nicole Dixon Photographic photographed the wedding, Avant-Garde Impressions created the invitations, All Sounds provided the tunes, American Limo provided the wheels, Prema Designs crafted Kassandra's bouquet, Cake Creations baked the cake, Doug Melvin worked the photo booth and That's So Sweet and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory provided favors for the couple's guests.

Additionally, Next Door Stories offered their videography services, Neff Lighting set the mood and The Shaw Brothers performed during the ceremony.

As for her look, Kassandra wore a Wendy's Bridal ball gown, and Bia Minaya with The M Loft styled her hair. Danielle Grissom perfected Kassandra's makeup look.

"The whole day was very romantic. It was so special to me," Kassandra says. "I love the idea of being married in a church, but the elegance of the venue-and the warmth-was so romantic."
